Synthetic Biology (Budapest)
On 12-13 June, the last SMART-map Industrial Dialogue took place at the Central European University in Budapest. The event mirrored the Manchester Industrial Dialogue held in March and was focused on synthetic biology.
The workshop was introduced by keynote speaker Tamás Fehér, senior research associate at the Institute of Biochemistry of the Biological Research Centre in Szeged, who gave an overview on current developments in the field. In this short video, Fehér outlines possible risks associated with synthetic biology.
A the end of the first day of the workshop, 18 participants from different stakeholders groups proposed a list of 35 possible tools to be adopted by industries. Three ideas were then selected and developed more in details during the second day of the workshop. In this short video, Enikő Demény from Central European University highlights some of the key issues implemented in the proposals.
The outcomes of this workshop will be combined with those from the Manchester Industrial Dialogue. A first draft of the synthetic biology SMART Map will be released in the next months.
